Around 3,000 farmer participants and policy makers and other industry stakeholders including ADAMCO is participating in this year’s 15th National Rice Technology Forum (NRTF). This event in collaboration of The Rice Productivity Advocacy, Inc. (Rice Board), and the Department of Agriculture Regional Office 1, Municipality of Bacarra and Province of Ilocos Norte will commence from September 12-14, 2022; 7am to 5pm daily from at Brgy. Cabaruan, Bacarra, Ilocos Norte.
With the theme, “Increase Rice Production towards Farmers’ Prosperity”, the event will showcase 120-hectare technology demonstrations of different hybrid and inbred rice varieties in line with the new thinking in agriculture by way of clustering. This will be a venue where participants from all sectors can develop policy recommendations towards a more competitive Philippine rice industry. Aside from this, it is also an opportunity to inform rice farmers on the newest agricultural technology for them to cope with the challenge posed by climate change to sustain the increase of rice production as rice remains to be the staple food for Filipinos.
ADAMCO believes that agri-machinery such as harvesters, tractors and transplanters are one of the modern ways for sustainable farming especially for an aging sector of agriculture. Machineries can help not only reduce production cost and increase yield but also decrease labor time.
The forum was attended by Honorable Governor Matthew J. Marcos Manotoc, Mr. Nestor Domenden OIC Regional Executive Director of the Department of Agriculture, Dr. Santiago Obien, Former Director of Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice), Officials of Rice Board, Honorable Mayor Nicomedes C. Dela Cruz Jr., and rice farmers.
