ADAMCO partners with UPLB for academic collaborations

Ada Manufacturing Corporation (ADAMCO) signed Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) held last July 12 at the REDREC Auditorium, formalizing academic collaborations in the form of internship programs for UPLB students.

UPLB continues to foster collaborative efforts with partner institutions to enhance graduate education in agriculture. Hence, this partnership with ADAMCO will facilitate market research projects in the agriculture through internship.

Federico C. De Guzman, business development director of ADAMCO,  believes UPLB can contribute through the internship, especially in agriculture.

“We are eager to welcome the students of UPLB and involved them in our research or in our day- to- day business, we look forward for the collaborative learning together with the students. Also, we need to inculcate knowledge and interest in our youth to ensure continues agriculture industry.”

In his speech, UPLB Chancellor Jose V. Camacho, Jr. said that the partnership will contribute to UPLB’s desired institutional outcome of enhancing the quality of its education through internship and active engagement with the industry.

“It is important that we find reliable, credible, and reputable partner agencies that can give quality and competent internship experience. The kind of training that will help our students live up to UP’s timeless motto of honor and excellence,” he added.

This  Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) was signed by the following UPLB faculty members; Chancellor Camacho; Dr. Agham C. Cuevas, dean of the College of Economics and Management; and Mar B. Cruz, chair of the Department of Agribusiness Management and Entrepreneurship while ADAMCO was represented by Federico C. De Guzman, business development director of ADAMCO; Maritess B. Gallardo, chief finance and administrative officer; and Catherine C. Perez, corporate planning head.

The signing ceremony was also graced by vice chancellors Roberto P. Cereno (community affairs), Dr. Fernando O. Paras, Jr. (planning and development), and Dr. Janette H. Malata-Silva (academic affairs).

The ceremony was also attended by 19 students of the BS Agribusiness Management and Entrepreneurship program. They are currently taking up their internship at ADAMCO where they gather experience in business development, finance, supply chain management, sales and aftersales services, and plant protection and nutrition enhancement.
